Food for Thought: Vitamins and Minerals

On the fence about vitamin and mineral supplementation? Well here's some food for thought: Once upon a time our soils were rich with minerals. Since modern farming has introduced pesticides and GMO's our soil is depleted of vital minerals and nutrients and thus so is our food. Even if this were not the case the average person still only consumes about a fraction of required daily nutrients. For optimal health, mental and physical well being our bodies need vitamins and minerals.  Look for high quality whole food-sourced multi-vitamins and avoid synthetic supplements. Minerals play an important role in our body's ability to balance fluids, are essential to our bone health as well as restoring the proper acid/alkaline balance. If you are only taking a multi-vitamin please note that our bodies cannot metabolized vitamins without the adequate presence of certain minerals.  Mineral supplements also help rid the body of toxins and potentially damaging substances.  Scientist and Noble Prize winner,  Dr Linus Pauling is quoted as saying, "You can trace every sickness, every disease and every ailment to a mineral deficiency".  That's a hefty statement.

To ensure optimal wellness enhance your diet with a whole food-sourced multi-vitamin with essential trace minerals. A smart thing to do regardless of your age or nutritional requirements.
